Future Students

Thank you for considering pursuing higher education at the Community College of the District of Columbia. Effective fall semester 2009, students pursuing Associate Degrees or Certificate Programs will be admitted to the open admissions, Community College.

Admission Requirements

(First Time College Students)

  • Admissions Application
  • Official High School Transcript or Official GED Results
  • A Placement Test – ACCUPLACER
  • Immunization Records (for students ages 26 and younger)

(Non-First Time College Students)

  • Admissions Application
  • Official College/University Transcript from previous institution
  • A Placement Test – ACCUPLACER (if necessary)
  • Immunization Records (for students ages 26 and younger)

International Students – Admissions

International students interested in applying for admission to CCDC should visit the Office of Admissions website for more information about the admissions process, deadlines and important forms.

Official Transcripts

All students applying to the Community College need to submit official transcripts or official GED results.

First time college students should either a) request their official high school transcripts from their high school’s main office and include it with their Admissions application or b) submit official GED results to the Office of Admissions to complete their Admissions application.

Non-first time college students should request that their previous college or university send an official college/university transcript to the Office of Admissions to complete their Admissions application.

ACCUPLACER Placement Test

All new students admitted to the Community College, students whose primary language is not English, and students who have not received a passing grade in one college level mathematics course and one college level English course are required to take the computerized ACCUPLACER Placement Test. There is no charge to take the test.

After gaining admission to the Community College, please contact the Office of Placement Testing in Building 38, Room A-18 or call 202.274.6063 or visit the Student Success Center in Building 41, Room A-01 or call 202.274.5800 to schedule your test. You must present proper identification at the time of the test.

Additional Requirements

All students (age 26 and younger) are also required to provide documentation of immunizations to the Community College in order to register for classes.  Immunization records should be given to Health Services in building 44, room A-12.  Please contact Health Services at 202.274.5030 for more information.

Financial Aid

Students interested in receiving federal student financial aid in the form of scholarships, loans and/or grants must file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online. It is important that students apply for financial aid as soon as possible even if they do not know all of the institutions to which they plan to apply for admissions. Additional colleges can be added to the FAFSA later.
